Computer Glasses — What Do Blue Cut Lenses Do?

Computers, smartphones and other digital devices are part of everyday life. As a result, more people are searching for computer glasses, sometimes also referred to as screen glasses.

Computer glasses can be fitted with Blue Cut lenses. What do these lenses do, and which options are available at OpticOn?

What are Blue Cut lenses?

Blue Cut lenses are designed to filter a portion of blue and blue-violet light. This type of light is present in the natural environment and is also emitted by computers, smartphones and other digital screens.

Blue Cut lenses can be made with or without a prescription. You can therefore choose computer glasses that provide vision correction or non-prescription screen glasses.

Do computer glasses reduce digital eye strain?

Blue Cut lenses filter part of blue light, but they are not guaranteed to relieve eye fatigue caused by prolonged computer use.

Screen-related discomfort is often associated with dry eyes, reduced blinking, continuous close focusing, unsuitable lighting or an incorrect prescription.

Along with choosing suitable computer glasses, it is important to take regular breaks, adjust screen brightness and have your eyesight examined when necessary.

Blue Cut lens options available at OpticOn

OpticOn offers several types of eyeglass lenses with Blue Cut functionality.

Standard Blue Cut lenses

Standard Blue Cut lenses are clear eyeglass lenses with a blue-light filtering function. They can be made with or without a prescription.

Aspheric Blue Cut lenses

Aspheric Blue Cut lenses combine blue-light filtration with an aspheric design. The aspheric surface gives the lens a flatter and more refined profile.

Photochromic Blue Cut lenses

Photochromic Blue Cut lenses combine Blue Cut functionality with automatic darkening in sunlight.

Can computer glasses be made with a prescription?

Yes. Blue Cut lenses can be made for plus, minus or astigmatism prescriptions. Non-prescription computer glasses are also available if you do not require vision correction.

The available option depends on your prescription and the lenses currently in stock.

Ready-made non-prescription computer glasses

OpticOn offers the widest selection of zero-prescription computer glasses. These glasses are already fitted with Blue Cut lenses and can be purchased either at our store or online from the computer glasses collection.

Can computer glasses be made on the same day?

If the required Blue Cut lenses are in stock and the selected frame is suitable, OpticOn can make your computer glasses on the same day.

If a specific prescription or lens type needs to be ordered, the production time will be determined individually.
